Dive Site Description of Foththeyo

The dive site at Foththeyo is located on the east side of the Felidhu Atoll outside of the reef and at the entrance of the channel. The nearest islands include Bodofushi and Bodofushi Finolhu. It is here that an Amazing thila can be found rising up to around 10 meters beneath the water’s surface, with one side of the wall having a cliff that drops down to the blue depths. There are also a series of caves between 25-50 meters that are covered with white and yellow alcyonarians.

A drift dive is usually made at Fotteyo Kandu by commencing at the fissure in the reef and diving down to around 35 meters through a tunnel and around several grottoes. The top of the thila is covered in table corals whilst lying on the seabed are usually White Tip Reef Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks and Eagle Rays.

The cliff wall at Forththeyo harbours an abundance of stunning soft corals with several caves along the way. Besides Sharks and Rays, it is common to swim with humphead wrasses, coral groupers, sabre squirrelfish, turkeyfish, sweetlips and even lobsters and sea turtles.
